Two Shaligram stones sent from Nepal for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya have reached Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, India today on the way to Ayodhya. These stones will be carved into idols of Lord Ram and Sita for the upcoming Ram temple.

According to mythology, Lord Vishnu took the form of Shaligram Stone to defeat a demon king. Since then, the Shaligram stones are worshipped as a non-anthropomorphic representation or symbol of Lord Vishnu and are considered holy and worshipped by the devotees.
