The Bharatiya Janta Party has announced candidates for the assembly by-elections to be held later this month in West Bengal. The names approved by the BJP Central Election Committee include Milan Ghosh from Samserganj, Sujit Das from Jangipur.

Apart from this, the BJP has given a chance to Priyanka Tibrewal from the Bhawanipur seat from where CM Mamta Banerjee has announced to fight.

Priyanka Tibrewal has been a legal advisor to BJP leader Babul Supriyo, she joined the BJP in August 2014 only after Supriyo’s advice. In 2015, She contested the Kolkata Municipal Council election from ward number 58 (Entally) as a BJP candidate, but was defeated by Swapan Samdar of Trinamool Congress.

Significantly, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee contested from Nandigram instead of her traditional seat Bhawanipur in the assembly elections held this year. However, in Nandigram, considered a stronghold of the Adhikari family, Mamata had to face defeat against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. In such a situation, now Mamta has a big challenge to remain CM by contesting from Bhawanipur seat.
