CBI raided residence of Rabri Devi, former Chief Minister of Bihar this morning. As per reports, the investigating team is questioning her in ‘Land-for-Job’ scam. Apparently, the team is likely to question Lalu Yadav as well.

The case pertains to land-for-job scam during the period when Lalu Prasad Yadav was Railway minister of India in UPA government led by Manmohan Singh. The family is suspected of illegally receiving plots of land in lieu of jobs. CBI received Union government’s permission to pursue the case in January 2023.

Hours after the CBI team reached his mother Rabri Devi’s residence, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav attacked the centre saying he had anticipated this, when the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ government was being formed in Bihar.

Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav:

“The people of Bihar are seeing that from the day the new government of the People’s Grand Alliance has been formed in Bihar, CBI-ED-IT is being misused every month by someone or the other….Now it is not going to make any difference, People have understood the BJP’s game very well.”

Opposition parties including Congress Party and Aam Aadmi Part (AAP) have criticised action by the investigating agencies.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra , General Secretary, Indian National Congress said:

Those opposition leaders who are not ready to bow down before the BJP are being harassed through ED-CBI. Today Rabri Devi ji is being harassed. @laluprasadrjd Ji and his family have been tortured for years because they did not bow down. The BJP wants to suppress the voice of the opposition.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal complained :

Opposition leaders are being raided and harassed. Where governments of other parties are formed, they are raided by CBI-ED, they are not allowed to work through Governor-LG. The country moves forward by working together, not by stopping work.
