India confiscated ill-gotten wealth worth Rs 1.10 Lakh Crore in last 9 years during 2014-2023 under ant-money laundering law ‘Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)’. This was stated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday 28 March 2023 while addressing his party workers after inauguration of new BJP office.

While talking about the opposition parties’ allegation of misuse of investigating agencies by the government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that some political parties have launched a “save-the-corrupt” campaign. He said, during last 9 years of BJP ’s reign, ill-gotten wealth worth Rs 1.10 Lakh crore was confiscated under the provision of anti-money laundering law (PMLA) against Rs 5000 crore during 2004-2014 when Congress led UPA was in power. He alleged Congress was lacklustre in controlling corruption.
