COVID-19: India reports 1,805 new cases in the last 24 hours

India has reported 1,805 new COVID-19 cases and 6 deaths in the last 24 hours. Daily positivity rate is 3.19% 

Apparently, Mumbai and Delhi are witnessing surge of new cases.

COVID-19 cases have increased in the past two weeks. Also, there has been spike in H1N1 and H3N2 Influenza cases recently.  

A high-level meeting was held on 22 March 2023 to assess the COVID-19 and Influenza situation in terms of preparedness of health infrastructure and logistics, status of the vaccination campaign, emergence of new COVID-19 variants and Influenza types and their public health implications for the country.   

It was held that the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over and there is a need to monitor the status across the country on regular basis and to continue focusing on 5-fold strategy of Test-Track-Treat-Vaccination and Covid Appropriate Behaviour. Areas of action are enhanced laboratory surveillance and testing of cases, following respiratory hygiene and adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour in crowded public places including wearing of masks, mock drills to ensure readiness and ensuring availability of drugs and medical supplies.
