On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded postponement of National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 to be held in physical mode on September 12 for admission to undergraduate medical courses across India.

In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi wrote while targeting Central Government, “the Government of India is blind to students’ distress. Postpone #NEET exam. Let them have a fair chance,”

Students filed a request in the Supreme Court, stating that many exams have been scheduled around mid-September, which has not given them a chance to concentrate on NEET. They have not had the chance to prepare well due to the pandemic.

Day before, the Supreme Court stated that the NEET UG 2021 examination will not be postponed any further as almost all the preparations have been made and it will be very unfair to reschedule the national medical entrance examination.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), formerly the All-India Pre-Medical Test is an all-India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions in India and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.
